CCDT and the Mumbai Marathon

Dear Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to announce CCDT's (Committed Communities Development Trust) participation in the 6 th Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon on the 18 th January 2009 . I'll begin with a big "thank you" to all those who supported us in the last Marathon . We're eagerly looking forward to having you run with our kids and staff once again.

This year we are staring the registrations early so that we all have enough time to prepare.

As you may be aware, CCDT works in areas of:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Community Health & Development
  • With Children in Especially Difficult Situations.

We deal with issues such as; children and families living with HIV, child rights, reproductive health, women in prostitution and their children and several others (Our website will give you further details www.ccdtrust.org).

The Marathon gives us a great opportunity to create awareness about our cause. It also enables us to raise funds for the 16 projects we manage across Mumbai In the past, these funds helped us provide nutrition, education and medical support to our beneficiaries. They also enabled us to initiate a shelter for boys living in the red light area. In 2009, we hope to enlist your support to raise funds that will help us provide a better future for our beneficiaries.

Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan at Ashray

On November 28th, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan along with Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla interacted with our children at Ashray.

Abhishek apparently has been a part of the Ashray since 2001 when the well-known fashion designer duo first introduced him to the organization. This was however, the first time that Aishwarya too came along with him.

Children performed a play and the star couple could not resist from joining the kids in a group dance. The couple added a lot of color and hope to the lives of these little ones.
